Maria studied Biotechnology at the Rovira i Virgili University (URV) and did her MSc in Plant Biology, Genomics and Biotechnology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) in collaboration with the University of Barcelona (UB) and the Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG). During her MSc she studied the defense response of nectarines against the causal pathogen of brown rot. Now, as a PhD student at the University of Lleida, she is studying the distribution and ecology of forest pathogens in Mediterranean conditions. To do so, she studies oomycetes and fungal pathogens in different compartments of forest ecosystems at both species and community level.
