Dr Resco de Dios is Associate Professor on Forest Fires and Global Change at the University of Lleida. He obtained his PhD from the University of Wyoming and he was a Ramón y Cajal Fellow (2014-2019). He has written 1 book on forest fires, over 100 scientific articles and is currently listed as a highly cited scientist in Biology in the Scopus ranking. His research lies at the biosphere-atmosphere interface. More specifically, he seeks to understand plant-drought-fire interactions from a physiological perspective, and their spatial and temporal upscaling to anticipate changes in fire regimes under global change. He is a member of the editorial boards of different international journals (New Phytologist, Regional Environmental Change, Trees Structure and Function, and four more) and was invited to collaborate in the last two Assessment Reports from the IPCC. He regularly writes popular science articles which have been published by BBC World, El País, ABC and other major newspapers. He is regularly asked for comment on wildfire issues globally.
