Tree physiology and genetics

The sustainable management of forested areas implies the application of ecologically-sound solutions. It is in this context that a thorough understanding of the interactions of forest trees with key environmental drivers is becoming progressively more relevant under current global change. We aim at increasing basic and applied knowledge on the physiological performance of trees at the inter and intraspecific levels as related to management techniques and final product characteristics. The identification and proper use of genetic material is another research and transfer priority for optimizing forest management.
