Forest functioning and Dynamics

Forest ecosystems are dynamic, species grow, regenerate and die in response to natural or human-induced disturbances. Here, we analyse and describe what are the climatic threshold of post-fire vegetation recovery of Mediterranean pinewood, as well as, how climate change effects affect the dynamics of main tree species living in the Pyrenees. Trees, seeds, and seedlings as essential factors to guarantee forest recovery, but also related forest functions such as carbon fixation or nutrient cycles are dynamic. We also evaluate how the dynamics of forest functions are related with tree and microbiome changes to help in decision making processes.
